MARK CHEEK
As someone who works in IT and spends a lot of time doing technical work, I never considered myself to be much of a creative. After I had my first child, I used that as an excuse to buy a starter DSLR kit and began to explore the world of photography. After a few months, my dad mentioned on a fishing trip that he still had an old film camera that had been in his closet for decades. After the first roll of film I put through his Canon AE-1, I was hooked on film photography.
If I had to explain my style, it’s finding beauty hidden in plain sight. I often find myself to photographing old and unique buildings and other features of the urban landscape most pass by every day without notice. When I’m able to travel, I love to capture the beauty of landscapes I often don’t get to see at home.
